What is Reflexology

Reflexology has been around for a long time. It is a way to access the bodies energy system through the feet, hands and/or ears. When the energy in the body is flowing as it should, the body stays healthy. When the energy is blocked, that opens a path for dis-ease to set in.

The feet, hands and ears are like little replicas of our body and certain points on the feet, hands and ears affect certain points in the body. This is how acupuncture works. Reflexology is like acupuncture but without the needles.

Reflexology can be used as a therapy in its own right and as a complimentary modality to assist other approaches to wellness. It has been used in the medical community in Europe before and after surgeries, as a way to manage discomfort, and to assist the bodies immune processes.

Reducing stress appears to be another benefit of reflexology. Who hasn't benefited from a good foot rub. The positive thing about reflexology is that the practitioner knows where to push on the feet or hands to help wake up the energy systems in the body in an effort to bring renewed vitality to each person.

When I do a session, my goal is to balance the energy systems in the body. I can feel pulses in the feet, and I hold specific points to help balance the energy. I also add my knowledge of the foods that support the different organs in the body, so each session is relaxing, stress reducing and informational. If you have a session with the biomat, this can help you experience an even deeper sense of relaxation.
